Bruce Akau started the Oahu Junior Bowlers Tour (OJBT) in 1992 with an Open and Girls division, challenging the youth of the day with a long single-day format for a banner, star (for additional wins), and a free entry to the following event.

After a hiatus from 2003, OJBT restarted with an Alumni Event in 2022 celebrating 30 years since its inception. An abbreviated first season, held from December 2022 to May 2023, kicked off the re-introduction of OJBT to the youth of today.

Today, OJBT welcomes an estimated 1,200 Regular Event youth entries over its 10-month season, with an additional 300 Scratch Shootout entries including adult and youth.
